The Smoky Mountains Convention and Visitors Bureau is the official organization representing Blount County, Tennessee. Better known as the Peaceful Side of the Smokies, Blount County is a gateway community to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The community of Townsend in Blount County is located at the Park boundary and is only 7 miles from the most popular destinations in the National Park known as Cades Cove.
Blount County is within a day's drive of most of the major cities in the Eastern United States and also host to the McGhee/Tyson Airport.
The Smoky Mountains Convention and Visitors Bureau are happy to assist you in learning more about our area.

At least two weeks prior to your visit, we ask that you provide the following information:
- Name of journalist/photographer
- Mailing Address
- Contact phone numbers/email address
- Brief biographical sketch
- Publications you write for
- Examples of work (not more than one year old)
- Name of targeted publications
- Focus of story
- Arrival and departure dates
- Any special interest
1. Complimentary arrangements are available, but some limitations apply. Limitations are based on availablity and seasonal activity.
2. The writer will be responsible for all costs incurred by family members or others accompanying the writer.
3. All transportation cost to get here will be the responsibility of the writer. Some transportation can be provided by SMCVB staff if needed, but prior arrangement will be required. Car rental will be the responsibility of the writer.
4. SMCVB will work with each writer to provide appropriate contacts, itineraries and arrangements to meet individual assignment needs.
5. Tear sheets of any stories are to be provided to SMCVB in a timely manner.
