Bike and Hike the Trails

Get out of the car for a hike or bike ride along the Cades Cove trails. Explore waterfalls, creeks, fields, wildflower walks and mountain views on trails of various length and difficulty, from the tough Abrams Falls loop to the easy Nature Trail.

Discover Historic Buildings

Once a thriving mountain community, Cades Cove still has the largest collection of historic buildings in the park. Learn about mountain life in the 1800s when you explore the historic churches, homes, working grist mill and farm buildings.

Discover Historic Cades Cove

Cades Cove is a wonder of local beauty, wildlife, history, and heritage. This historic valley in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was where settlers began building homes, churches, and workshops, some of which still stand today. As you go around this 11-mile loop, you can stop at multiple points and explore trails and remaining log cabins, churches, and more. There’s a visitor center and restroom midway through. The slow pace makes it easy to enjoy the mountain landscapes, wildflower meadows and diverse wildlife. When traveling the scenic loop road, plan to get out and visit the restored buildings, the Visitor Center, and the ample photo spots.
